WARNING KIND OF A SPOILER
For years I’ve felt like a fraud for calling myself a fan of Jurassic Park because I had not read the novel published in 1990. In my defense I was only two at the time. This week however, that changed. I’ve gone back and forth on the rating of this novel. It’s fun, sophisticated, and had me at the edge of my seat. What also fascinated me is that there are story elements from the original novel that appear throughout both trilogy’s in the film franchise. Yet there were elements that fell so flat for me such as the JP workers who are mentioned being on the island during the events of the novel yet there are zero storylines involving them. It’s almost as if Crichton forgot they were there but then remembered to throw in one or two during the finale of the book. For me, the movie handled that element a little better.
But overall this was a 4 out of 5 for me.
